Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Joined “White Dudes for Kamala” Fundraiser

Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow made some waves on social media back in March when he and San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa had their picture taken with former President of the United States, Donald Trump. Bosa, of course, is a well-known Trump supporter and has not hidden his admiration for the former President.

Burrow, who was openly irate when Roe v. Wade was overturned, surprised many with his willingness to have his picture taken with President Trump. Fans on social media made the assumption that it meant that he was supportive of the former President.

As it turns out, that may not be anywhere close to true.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) drops back to throw in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 1 game between the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium in downtown Cleveland on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023. The Browns dealt the Bengals a 24-3 loss to begin the season.

On Monday night, a recently suspended X (formerly Twitter) profile called “White Dudes for Kamala” hosted a Zoom call fundraiser. They also have a website, White Dudes for Harris. The event featured high-profile celebrities such as Jeff Bridges, Mark Hammil, and others.

According to multiple sources, Burrow was in on the call too.

There are many X users who deny that Burrow was actually on the call because they did not see him. It should be noted, though, that there were over 190,000 participants in the call.

It has also been reported that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was also on the call.

“White Dudes for Harris” raised $4 million in about three hours for the Vice President’s campaign.

Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy after his final season at LSU in 2019. During his acceptance speech for the award, he talked about growing up in poverty in Athens, Ohio. “There’s so many people there that don’t have a lot and I’m up here for all those kids in Athens and Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school,” Burrow said. “You guys can be up here, too.”

After his speech, fans started a fundraiser on Facebook that raised over $200,000 for a local food bank in Athens County, Ohio.

Biden, who was campaigning for President at the time, posted on Twitter at the time: “Joe Burrow worked hard to reach the pinnacle of college football, but he never forgot the everyday struggle of the community he came from. Joe – your humility is inspiring. Thank you for reminding us to never forget those less fortunate than us.”
