The Cincinnati Bengals finally got off the mark on Monday. It came at the expense of the Los Angeles Rams, who have now suffered back-to-back losses following their Week 2 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.
For their part, Joe Burrow and the Bengals finally got their first win of the campaign after going winless in their first two games.
Cincinnati Bengals Star Joe Burrow Played Through Calf Injury
Burrow hasn’t completely recovered from his preseason calf injury. The Pro Bowl quarterback has played in all three of Cincinnati’s games this season, though, but he nearly missed Monday’s clash against LA after aggravating the calf in Week 2.
Joe Cool clearly was not a hundred percent on Monday night, but he still managed to pull through. After the game, the 26-year-old shed some light on the current condition of his calf. The Bengals star admitted that it is still a work in progress:
“We’re getting there. Every week will be better as long as there’s no more setbacks.” Burrow said (h/t Albert Breer of NBCS Boston). “Today, we got through it.”
The good news for Cincinnati fans is that according to Burrow, there were no setbacks on Sunday.
Joe Burrow’s Slow Start
Burrow, who signed a record-breaking extension with the Bengals earlier this season, hasn’t really looked like one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history. He went 0-2 in the first two weeks of the season, logging 41-of-72 completed passes for 304 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Monday wasn’t much better either. Burrow completed 26-of-49 passes for 259 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The most important thing, however, is that Cincinnati was able to scrape out a win.
With his calf continuously improving, we expect the Cincinnati superstar to just keep on getting better from here on out.
