The Houston Texans may look to target former Dolphins star defensive lineman and now soon-to-be free agent Christian Wilkins.
The Miami Dolphins shocked the NFL world this week when it was announced that they weren’t going to use the franchise tag, Wilkins. After being drafted 13th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, Wilkins became a staple for the Dolphins’ defense, missing no more than three games in each of his first five seasons. Wilkins recorded 355 tackles, 20.5 sacks, in his 81 career games with the Dolphins.
Coach Demeco Ryans talked about the importance of his defensive and offensive lines during last year’s owners’ meeting. “The O-line, D-line, as I talked about earlier, that’s the important piece to building a football team,” Ryans told reporters on March 27 at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix.
The market value for Christian Wilkins is looking to be around four years 80.9 million dollars. The Texans have the fourth most cap space this off-season with $70,029,015 in cap space. If the Texans could land Wilkins they would have their two pillars on the defensive line for the foreseeable future with Will Anderson coming off the edge and Christian Wilkins stuffing it up in the middle.
