“Chiefsaholic”plead guilty to three charges in federal court on Wednesday due to his connection to several bank robberies across seven states from 2022-23.
Xaviar Babudar, known for wearing a grey wolf suit at Chiefs games at home and on the road, pleaded guilty to money laundering, transporting stolen property across state lines and bank robbery, with a sentencing hearing coming in July.
Babudar, 29, faces 50 years in prison for his crimes, which U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore called a “violent crime spree across the Midwest.”
Chiefsaholic became a bit of a myth and legend to some as it took a while for the Kansas City Chiefs mega fan to be apprehended.
The defendant tried to conceal hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen cash by using it to gamble online and at casinos, but the odds caught up with him,” Moore said in a release. “With today’s conviction, he will be held accountable for the full scope of his criminal conduct, including his attempt to flee from justice.”
As a part of the plea deal the Cheifaholic’s lawyer was able to get, Babudar will need to pay $532,675 in restitution to the victim’s financial institutions and also forfeit an autographed painting of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes
In November, Babudar pleaded not guilty to robbing the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union in Bixby, Oklahoma, after he was accused of pointing a black pistol at a bank teller and fleeing with $150,000 in December 2022.
Babudar was arrested in December 2022 and held in jail until February 2023, when he was released on bond.
He took his ankle monitor off and was on the run for about four months before being apprehended by the FBI in California, leading to Wednesday’s plea.
.Investigators were also able to link Babudar to several previously unsolved robberies, specifically mentioning Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, as well as attempted robberies at two credit unions in Minnesota.
Chiefsaholic Lawyer Goes Viral After Hilarious Speech Filled With Football Metaphors After Client Pleads Guilty To Robberies
Matthew Merryman, the lawyer representing Xaviar Babudar, an avid Chiefs fan known as “ChiefsAholic,” made an interesting choice when addressing the media on Wednesday after his client realized he was facing 50 years in prison.
After Babudar pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to counts of bank robbery, money laundering and transporting stolen property across state lines, the criminal Chief’s fan used hilarious metaphors and references while speaking on behalf of his client in a speech that literally feels like it came from a satirical movie.
But it was real and Kansas City Chiefs fans and people across the country had a wide array of reactions from sheer disbelief to anger. It was truly a sight to see. But most people found the viral video that had over a million views absolutely hilarious as it didn’t seem remotely real but it was.
The Chiefsaholic lawyer story is now becoming its own internet sensation.

From the beginning of this case, folks, the government has been blitzing. And Xavier’s pocket was collapsing,” Merryman said. “But today, Xavier has stepped into the pressure. He took responsibility for his actions. He stood up in court, humble and repentant and admitted what he had done.
“… If I know anything about Xavier, and if the Chiefs Kingdom knows anything about ChiefsAholic, we know that he doesn’t give up. We know that if he stumbled, and he fell, he didn’t let his knee touch the ground.”
And that’s because he’s capable of doing a great thing, and he knows there is still hope. We still have a lot of work to do on this case, but Xavier wants everyone to know that he loves the Chiefs Kingdom, he loves Kansas City and he hopes that you will rally to his support. Thank you and God bless.”

Any time you can work in a football analogy while defending your client you know you’ve got a great lawyer.
Also kind of bummed he used a government name here. Who is Xavier? I know Chiefsaholic pic.twitter.com/JByZ8gh76q

Robbed eleven banks. This wimpy lawyer looks like the boy that my daughter used to beat up all the time in grade school. What a dork. https://t.co/LqcblfwvgA
