Sunday’s slate of games has been eventful, exciting, and eye-popping for football fans. Chiefs football fans were able to celebrate after beating the Houston Texans 30-24. Kansas City won the game in overtime and secured its seventh straight AFC West Championship. The game was fun, and physical, and ended in a wild fashion. These qualities made the game fun to watch. Both teams had an opportunity to leave NRG Stadium with a win. Kansas City flew home happy and victorious.
The win moved Chiefs football to 11-3. Kansas City currently holds the number two seed in the AFC playoff picture. Kansas City plays the Seattle Seahawks next.
A Dog Fight In Houston

The Houston Texans entered the game 1-11-1. Despite Houston’s poor record, they weren’t going to lay down and take a loss. Houston wanted to the win the game and fought hard. Houston scored the game’s first touchdown and held the Chief’s electric offense to zero first-quarter points. Lovie Smith’s defense played hard and challenged the Chief’s offense. Smith’s defense also didn’t give up any big plays. Houston lead the game 14-13 at halftime. I was surprised the Texans played Kansas City so tough.
Houston’s defense was physical and made a point to tackle the Chief’s skill players. Houston made sure to tackle the Chief’s skill players once they got the ball. There were multiple plays where Houston’s defenders slammed the Chief’s receivers to the ground. Chiefs wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster took the brunt of the hits.
The game picked up some speed in the second half. Kansas City scored 11 points in the second half and committed turnovers. Houston scored 10 points in the second half and made some significant plays. Chief’s football was tested all day and had to find a way to win the game. Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs down the field late in the game. Mahomes and the Chief’s offense set up a 51-yard field goal for Harrison Butker. Butker missed the kick and the game went into overtime.

Kansas City won the coin toss and received the ball first in overtime. The offense went down the field and it looked like Kansas City would win the game. However, Chiefs football couldn’t convert on a critical third down. Houston Texans linebacker Blake Cashman sacked Patrick Mahomes. Houston got the ball and needed a field goal to win the game. Quarterback Davis Mills fumbled the ball and Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay picked up the ball. Kansas City iced the game when running back Jerick McKinnon scored a 26-yard touchdown.
The Playoffs
Chiefs football is headed to the playoffs again and has its eyes set on a Superbowl trophy. Sunday’s game will help the Chiefs in the playoffs. Games are tight in the playoffs because teams are evenly matched. Kansas City can use the game as fuel for the playoffs. The team knows how to win when it’s close. Kansas City plays the Seattle Seahawks next.
