The biggest question mark for the Chicago Bears in the 2024 offseason is what they’ll do with Justin Fields. The 24-year-old field general hasn’t been the ideal QB for the team, but he’s alo shown flashes of brilliance throughout his three-year tenure as QB1 for fans to be dvided about his fate.
However, the team will have to make a decision as the Draft Combine is quickly approaching. The last thing they want to do is look at their potential future QB1 without a clear gameplan on what they should do with their frustrated star who’s underperformed for the past three seasons.
One analyst believes that the conversation about Fields’ future at Ford Field has been sealed the moment the season ended, however.
Analyst beleives Justin Fields is out of the picture for the Chicago Bears
The Spun’s Chris Rosvouglou writes about Chris Bragg of the Chicago Tribune’s take on the Fields drama, and he believes that there shouldn’t be any questions on what the team should be doing before the draft combine:
“From my perspective, there is no internal debate in which the Bears are kicking around the idea of keeping Justin Fields versus drafting a quarterback,” Briggs wrote. “I believe the work being done is to determine which quarterback they should select. So the whole Fields versus Caleb Williams debate is a pointless exercise.”
It’s unfortuante that Fields’ stint with the Bears ended in such a way. He had a decent season with the team, finishing his 2023 campaign with 2562 passing yards, 657 rushing yards, and 20 total touchdowns. He’s a proven dynamic threat who can keep opponents guessing.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t develop enough to assure the Chicago Bears that he’s the right man under center. His inconsistency during the game’s biggest moments was what probably cost him losing his QB1 status to Caleb Williams.
But with Fields unfollowing the Bears on social media, it seems like he’s also ready to close the book on his Bears career.
