The Chicago Bears are hoping that Justin Fields can make another leap this year. After last year’s breakout season, Fields has been hard at work trying to improve every aspect of his game. New teammate T.J. Edwards came over in free agency from the Philadelphia Eagles and he sees similarities between Fields and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Chicago Bears Justin Fields Compared To Jalen Hurts

Edwards got a front-row seat to watching the development of Hurts. He sees a lot of similarities.

“One thing with Jalen was he was always just kind of calm and collected,” Edwards recently said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “That’s why we looked to him so much, just because he was always that calming factor. You do see similarities with Fields. He doesn’t seem to get rattled out there in terms of when we’re mixing up looks on him and stuff like that. Dude’s got such a strong arm, and he’s been very accurate just about this entire OTAs and minicamp. So, I’m really excited to play with a guy like that, a guy who can make all the plays who can also lead this team. He’s definitely the guy.”

    Not A Bad Comparison

Last year at this time, the narrative around Hurts was the same narrative we are hearing about Fields this year. The talent is there but the question is whether Fields can become an effective pocket passer. The Eagles went out and got A.J. Brown while the Bears got D.J. Moore in the trade involving the number one overall pick. The Bears would be ecstatic if Fields did what Hurts did last year.

The Chicago Bears are hoping that Justin Fields is the quarterback of the future. He showed some promise last season but has a long way to go. If he can make another jump this year, the Bears will be very happy.
