D’Onta Foreman and Darrynton Evans to Step Up Sunday
D’Onta Foreman signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Chicago Bears this offseason. Despite the investment, the six-foot, 235-pound bruiser has just five carries on the season. Chicago has elected to mark him a healthy inactive for multiple games this season. Foreman had a career year in 2022, rushing for 914 yards and five touchdowns on 4.5 yards per attempt with the Carolina Panthers. Originally a third-round draft pick to the Houston Texans in 2017, Foreman never found his footing before being released.
The Texas product had a cup of coffee with the Indianapolis Colts before signing with the Tennessee Titans. He spent one season with Tennessee before signing with Carolina last year. Foreman played well in his most previous start, dating back to January last season. He rushed for 68 yards on 12 carries while receiving no targets in the passing game.
Darrynton Evans is the only other active running back on the Chicago roster. Evans saw 14 carries with the Bears last season, tallying 64 yards and no touchdowns. The 25-year-old has 30 carries for 125 yards in his NFL career.
Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson: OUT
The Chicago Bears will be without their top three options at running back on Sunday. Khalil Herbert was amid a fantastic third season, rushing for 272 yards on 5.3 yards per carry. Herbert took on a much more significant role this season after last year’s starter, David Montgomery, signed with the Detroit Lions.
Meanwhile, Roschon Johnson, a fourth-round pick in the most recent draft, was also enjoying an excellent season alongside Herbert. Johnson did a fantastic job operating in the backfield on passing downs. Travis Homer will also be unavailable against the Vikings. The former Seattle Seahawk is more of a special teams player but has played offense in the past.
