The Los Angeles Chargers made a big move in the offseason when they brought in Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator. After spending time in Dallas with Dak Prescott, Moore now gets to coach Justin Herbert. In the first couple of weeks of minicamp, Moore is loving what he is seeing out of Herbert.
Kellen Moore Is Loving Justin Herbert
The Chargers need to improve their offensive production and Moore led some successful offenses in Dallas. However, Moore has never worked with a talent like Herbert and he talked about what he has seen in a recent interview.
“Yeah, there’s some obvious stuff. The biggest thing is obviously his arm talent. But his combination of size, throwing ability, athleticism, I mean, there’s only a few on earth that can have that combination, and play at such a high level. It’s really fun to see. I was a 6-foot, kind of hanging-on quarterback for six years. And I laugh, there’s a few throws sometimes he makes that I say, ‘I would never think about trying that throw, but here we are.’ It’s opened my eyes to some things.”
Can The Chargers Knock Off The Chiefs?
The Chargers have one of the toughest jobs in the AFC. They are in the same division as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. It isn’t the worst thing if they get second place as they can still get a wild card berth but that means playing on the road against division winners. The team is hoping that with this new offense, they can unlock a new side of Herbert.
The Kellen Moore and Justin Herbert pairing is a tantalizing one. The Chargers offense should be must-see television in the 2023 season and the matchups with the Chiefs will be premium matchups to watch.
