When asked if he wanted star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to get more targets, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was uncertain. Despite his resume and prolific playing ability, Lamb has yet to post his usual gaudy numbers this season. Jones would like to see the team utilize the entirety of the offense, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. The Cowboys also feature tight end Jake Ferguson and wide receivers Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks. However, despite an aging Cooks, the Cowboys lack outside talent that matches the explosiveness of Lamb.

CeeDee Lamb’s Slow Start
The Oklahoma product has eclipsed more than five catches once this season. He has also crossed the century mark in receiving yards just once. Lamb was named to the All-Pro second-team last season after snagging 107 passes for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns. He also went for 1,102 receiving yards in 2021. Lamb, the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, fell just short of 1,000 yards receiving as a rookie. He finished his inaugural campaign with 74 receptions for 935 yards and five scores.
Much of Lamb’s slow start in 2023 results from the play of quarterback Dak Prescott. The 30-year-old has completed 69% of his passes for 1,061 yards but has just five touchdowns to four interceptions. Prescott also led the NFL in interceptions last season, but he still managed to keep CeeDee Lamb’s production afloat. Prescott’s struggles come in the middle of his four-year, 160 million-dollar contract. He can become a free agent as early as 2025.
Ceedee Lamb Contract Situation
Meanwhile, CeeDee Lamb has two more years on his rookie contract. The 24-year-old will hit the open market in 2025, but a contract extension remains speculated between Lamb and the Cowboys. However, Lamb’s relationship with his team could become strained after Jerry Jones took to the airwaves on Tuesday.
