The Carolina Panthers didn’t have to see much from Bryce Young. The number one overall pick has impressed early and it didn’t take long for the official announcement to come. Young has been named the starter for week 1.
Carolina Panthers Name Bryce Young As The Starter
It likely isn’t a shock to most people but there is merit to starting another quarterback to let the rookie learn for awhile. The Panthers and head coach Frank Reich feel his is ready.
“Yes, he’s QB1. I think Bryce has made good progress. You can just tell, he and the whole group on offense … you can just tell everybody is feeling more comfortable with it. Certainly, Bryce is as well. So we feel good about where he’s at.
“We’ve got a long way to go. You know, it’s Day 1, and I know you guys all understand that, but I like where we’re at.”
He admits that there is more to work on but his body of work so far has proven that he can be the starter. The Panthers have no shortage of talent on the offensive side of the ball and the hope is that Young can elevate the group.
Can The Panthers Compete In The NFC South?
The Panthers have an outside chance in the South. The favorites are the Saints and Falcons but they are by no means heavy favorites. New Orleans is hoping that Derek Carr is the answer at quarterback and the same can be said for Desmond Ridder and the Falcons. If Young proves to be a formidable starter and one of those other teams falter, the Panthers may find themselves in the thick of the division race.
The Carolina Panthers will start Bryce Young at quarterback this year. The team is hoping that what they gave up for Young was worth it and that he can be the quarterback of the future.
