The Pittsburgh Steelers were dealt a massive blow with news coming out Monday afternoon on one of their star defensive players. The Steelers’ defense had a tough time Sunday in their season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, where they were blown out 30-7.
The Steelers will look to regroup before their Monday Night Football game in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns, who dominated the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. The Steelers will play the game without one of their better defenders.
The Pittsburgh Steelers to lose Cameron Heyward
According to Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, the Steelers expect Cam Heyward to miss multiple weeks due to a groin injury he sustained Sunday. The Steelers think Heyward could be placed on injured reserve. He could have to undergo surgery to repair his groin injury.
#Steelers six-time Pro Bowl DL and co-defensive captain Cam Heyward is expected to miss multiple weeks with a groin injury suffered on Sunday against the #49ers, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Placing the 2011 first-round pick by the Steelers on injured reserve would be a major loss for the defense. The three-time All-Pro defensive tackle recorded 10.5 sacks in 2022.
