Second-year WNBA star Caitlin Clark has one month before she’s set to get back to work with the Indiana Fever. The WNBA’s training camp will begin on April 27.
Clark and fellow WNBA star Angel Reese have been key promoters for women’s sports. Their popularity has brought the WNBA to schedule several games at NBA arenas.
The NFL has been smart in recent history to partner with strong female celebrities. The league’s promotion of Taylor Swift brought new fans to the sport. The NFL wants to take advantage of Clark’s popularity for flag football.
Per Eric Fisher of Front Office Sports, the league invited Clark to its annual meeting next week to discuss women’s sports and the NFL’s hopes for flag football.
The NFL wants to talk to Caitlin Clark

“The NFL is bringing the WNBA superstar to its annual meeting next week in Palm Beach, Fla., to participate in a panel discussion on women’s sports and the league’s aspirations around flag football, Fisher wrote.
“Clark will participate in the session for NFL team owners and personnel along with tennis icon Serena Williams, former Giants quarterback and current front-office staffer Eli Manning, and Broncos co-owner Mellody Hobson.”

The sport will be featured in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has stated his interest in participating in flag football for the Olympics.
Flag Football is a high priority for the league

Fisher quoted a league executive who said flag football is a “high priority” for the NFL.
“Flag football is a high priority of ours. It’s an opportunity for young women to participate in our game … and as we look forward, there definitely seems to be an appetite and interest in a professional flag league for both men and women,” said NFL EVP Jeff Miller. “So it’s a continuation of the growth in women’s sports, and the role that the NFL can play in it.”
Clark will certainly draw the attention of young female athletes. Clark knows plenty about football. The former Iowa star is an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
For better promotion of the sport, the league should next ask to talk to Cooper Flagg.
