BYU Injury Report for Week 8
BYU moves into Week 8 with some questions and more come on who will play in this game as a starter for their position? With many being out the last few weeks with injuries this BYU injury report is shorter because so many have come back to play ball. The Cougars may be down some key defenders which means they could struggle more than they already do. All this information comes from various sources and the coaches’ interviews after Monday’s practice. This week keep an eye out for more information on certain players if they play on Saturday.

Offense
Lopini Katoa RB
Katoa will return after being out last week in concussion protocol. This will be big for the running game because he has been one of the more consistent backs on the roster this year.
Miles Davis RB
Davis will return after getting injured in the Utah State game. He tried to play through it against Notre Dame but that didn’t work so he sat out last week with a shin injury. Davis being back will also be huge because he has been the most productive back BYU has had this season so his return should make this offense more productive.

BYU Football
Jackson McChesney RB
McChesney is out for the season with an undisclosed injury. This will make for another year his season was cut short due to injury.
Lane Lunt TE
Lunt a reserve tight end is also out for the season he reported himself on his Instagram page.
Gunner Romney WR
Romney is questionable after being carted to the locker room during the Notre Dame game. Then was transported to a local hospital for further testing on his kidney from the laceration earlier in the season. Romney told this to KSL on Tuesday “So, luckily, it wasn’t as bad as what we expected it was going to be. I’m questionable for this week, You know, I’m fighting back to play this week. It’s a real opportunity. I’ll make the trip regardless of what’s happening because I feel like it’s a game-time decision.”
Defense
Payton Wilgar LB
Wilgar is doubtful after leaving the Arkansas game early and then was seen on the sideline in a boot during the game. If he can’t go then Jackson Kaufusi will start in his place and the backup will be Tate Romney who is a true freshman.

Blake Mangelson DL
Mangelson is still to be determined. Before the Arkansas game BYU defensive coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki said that defensive end Blake Mangelson was “a week or two out” from playing. He might still be another week out so the line is going to have to stay healthy will some people out.
