The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready to face off in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs this year. However, these two teams may have to wait a little longer than anticipated. A weather concern has forced this game in Orchard Park to be postponed. Find out what happened and the new date and time below.
New York Governor Postpones Game
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that due to public safety concerns, the Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game has to be postponed. She also revealed that due to the dangerous weather conditions hitting the Buffalo area, there is a full travel ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday night in Erie County. These conditions are expected to impact the originally scheduled kickoff time to the point where the governor felt that the game had to be pushed back.
Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers New Kickoff Time
The Buffalo Bills’ social media team confirmed Hochul’s announcement about the game being delayed. The new kickoff time was also revealed in this post. Now, you can expect the kickoff time to take place on Monday, January 15th at 4:30 p.m. EST.
While it will not exactly be comfortable, the weather conditions do look more favorable for Monday afternoon. After concerns about 60 mph wind and up to a foot of snow, the conditions are expected to be milder in the next few days. By Monday afternoon, there should be less than three inches of snow and wind gusts under 20 mph.
This decision is expected to be controversial. Many fans may not be able to attend on the new kickoff date. However, it is the decision that was ultimately made by Hochul for the best interests of the public.
