The Buffalo Bills have officially clinched a playoff berth before stepping on the field in Week 18 but they still played their starters in the game against the Miami Dolphins to determine the second seed in the AFC as well as the AFC East division title. However, they seen one of their top offensive players leave the game due to injury and has officially been ruled out.
Wide receiver Gabe Davis suffered a knee injury in the first half of the game and has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the game. He has been a big part of the offense as the second wide receiver behind Stefon Diggs as he has posted 45 receptions on 79 targets for 746 yards (16.6 yards per catch) with seven touchdown catches.
It will be a huge blow if he is forced to miss any portion of the playoffs as things are going to only get tougher for one of the hottest teams in the Buffalo Bills that have won four consecutive games to get into the playoffs.
Can the Buffalo Bills be a threat in the playoffs?
Depending on where they are seeded, the Buffalo Bills could be a huge opponent to go up against. If they are able to win in Week 18, they would be hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers but if they lose, they would be on the road in a rematch of this game as they would be facing the Miami Dolphins.
The injuries piling up makes things interesting but this Buffalo Bills team is going to be a huge threat in the postseason no matter what. The situation will really depend on quarterback Josh Allen and how he performs. He has done well in the playoffs throughout his career with 17 touchdowns to four interceptions but the Bills are 4-4.
Allen has also had an issue with turning the ball over in his career, whether it be throwing interceptions or losing fumbles and mistakes are magnified in the playoffs.
With issues connecting with wide receiver Stefon Diggs and a beaten up defense, the Bills are going to be on the second or third tier in terms of contenders. Did they need to play their best brand of football to just get to this point and the tires will fall off? Only time will tell.
