Everyone knows Bryce Young does not lack talent. But imagine being compared to one of the greatest professional athletes of all time, Steph Curry.
According to Sports Illustrated, “I heard an incredibly interesting comp for Bryce Young last week, from a coach who’s got pretty good intel on the Alabama quarterback-one that’s, admittedly, unconventional: Steph Curry”
Both are excellent competitors in their respective sports. While they are both involved with different sports, that does not deter from the observation that they have similar playing styles and demeanor.
Young and Curry both play with such a calm demeanor that indicates the instincts they have for their respective sports. Young specializes in his ability to “consistently put the ball where wants it, which, of course, Curry is pretty adept at in his sport”.
As Curry possesses too, the characteristics that Young possesses only further his natural way of playing the game with such a unique vision. NFL’s Media Brian Baldinger, former NFL player, breaks down the Alabama quarterback, Bryce Young’s, game claiming “Bryce Young’s vision is something you can’t coach”.
To be able to achieve something that cannot be coached is always an indication of a stand-out player because of the ability to see how things can play out faster than other teammates and with such tranquility.
If the Panthers are thinking right, they would take advantage of Young’s arm talent and mobility with making sure he is protected at all costs from the offensive line. In addition to having professional athletes be compared to Bryce Young, football stars like Cam Newton are weighing in for Young.
Cam Newton appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast this past week, hosted by Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe was curious how Carolina could get a return on its investment, Young, after trading the No.1 pick last year.Newton remembers having a brief conversation with Young during the Super Bowl. He told Young that “he needs to understand that voicing his opinion is important. Some quarterbacks have that freedom to, and some don’t.
“You ain’t at the age where you can tell us who or what you want.’ But you have to because every offensive coordinator asks their quarterback this question: ‘Game on the line, third-and-4, third-and-8, got-to-have-it situation. Who would you prefer to throw the football to?” -Cam Newton to Bryce Young
With advice from Cam Newton, one of the greatest football players of all time, and comparisons to professional athletes, I think it is safe to say Bryce Young is going to take the Carolina Panthers very far into success.
