Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is one of the premier prospects in the 2024 NFL draft class. He is expected to be a high first-round pick next month and reportedly will not be participating in Georgia’s Pro Day later today due to a hamstring injury.
While this injury is not expected to be lingering or affect him in any way come the NFL season, the fact one of the top non-quarterbacks will not be able to participate in the school’s Pro Day is concerning to say the least. Last season, Brock Bowers missed a few games as he recovered from a high ankle sprain and surgery to recover from it.
However, he was able to still produce as he recorded 56 catches for 714 yards (12.8 yards per reception) with six receiving touchdowns as well as six carries for 28 yards (4.7 yards per attempt) with a rushing touchdown. Teams are going to be extremely interested in what Brock Bowers can provide for their team but it is not a good sign that he is dealing with an injury ahead of the NFL draft.
Could this hurt his draft status? Possibly. However, he is going to hold a separate workout for NFL teams on April 10th, per Jordan Reid of ESPN.
What team is the best fit for Brock Bowers in the 2024 NFL draft?
The Brock Bowers conversation is great but there are some teams that are going to be interested in using their pick on the Georgia Bulldogs product. One team that seems to be a great fit holds the 18th pick with the Cincinnati Bengals. With the trade request by Tee Higgins, the Bengals can replace his production from the tight end position and make the team a lot stronger.
Another team that may be interested are a lot higher in the draft as the Los Angeles Chargers and Jim Harbaugh could select him with the fifth overall pick. Getting Justin Herbert a legitimate weapon to throw the ball to, as the team could see some cuts and already lost running back Austin Ekeler, would be outstanding.
