Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has officially been ruled out of this week’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This will mean quarterbacks Will Levis and Malik Willis will replace him. Tannehill has been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered on October 15, and has officially sidelined him for this week’s game. This news comes from NFL insider and analyst Adam Schefter via Twitter.

The quarterback was absent from practice this Thursday preparing for the Falcons this Sunday. This caused backups Will Levis and Malik Willis to take over all of the quarterback reps during practice. Head coach Mike Vrabel said if Tannehill is unable to suit up this week, he confirmed his plan for the quarterback position already. Vrabel told reporters, “I’d imagine if Ryan can’t play, I would anticipate both of those quarterbacks playing in the football game.”

Willis has already seen some playing time because of Tannehill’s injury and sounds like he is ready to go this week. He said, “[Coach told me] to be ready to go, to prepare as the starter. [The process] is the same as usual- just go to practice, try to get better, try to understand the game plan as if you’re starting.”

The rookie Levis will be making his regular-season debut this week and seems to be prepared for anything as well. He said, “I’m just treating it like any other week. Vrabel preaches that we prepare as starters every week, regardless of what position or opportunity we have. If my name gets called, I’ll be ready to go.”

The Titans are 2-4 and desperately need a win this week. It will be a tough test, though, as they will face the first-place Falcons which should prove to be a good challenge for both young quarterbacks.
