The 2023 NFL season is starting to head in the wrong direction for the New Orleans Saints. Not only did they lose to the Detroit Lions but they also got some unfortunate news about QB Derek Carr. Find out what that is below.
Derek Carr’s Latest Status
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Carr has entered concussion protocol. Assuming this is accurate, this would be the second time in just one month that Carr suffered a concussion. However, that is not the only injury news related to Carr.
On top of a possible concussion, Carr may also have suffered a rib injury. Either one of these injuries could put his status in jeopardy for the New Orleans Saints’ Week 14 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Derek Carr’s Impact
It has not been the easiest transition year for Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints. They have a 5-7 record with him as the starter. Carr has thrown 2,761 passing yards, 11 touchdown passes, and six interceptions. On top of this, he has a 66.2 completion percentage.
Carr has struggled in his last three games. During that stretch, he has just one touchdown pass and two interceptions. Plus, he is averaging just over 213 passing yards per game.
After the Panthers, New Orleans has four key games remaining to close out the season. Those come against the New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons. At the time of writing, all four teams are in the NFC playoff hunt.
