Jonah Jackson was but one of the many reasons the Detroit Lions advanced to the NFC Championship in 2023.
One of their postseason opponents was the Los Angeles Rams, who have now pried away Jackson from Detroit after a season few expected out of the Rams.
Jonah Jackson Contract Details
As reported by Mike Garafolo, Jackson will leave the Motor City and head for Los Angeles on a three-year deal:
The #Rams have agreed to terms with G Jonah Jackson on a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed, sources say.

A 2021 Pro Bowler, Jonah Jackson will fit right in with the Rams. On an offensive line where the most experienced player is Rob Havenstein, Jackson will slide right in alongside Havenstein and the newly re-signed Kevin Dotson in the middle of Los Angeles’s offensive line for 2024 and beyond.
This move is especially one of note, as it comes off the back of a season very few expected for the 2021 Super Bowl Champions.
Rams Had A Resurgence in 2023
After a 5-12 record in 2022, which constituted one of the worst Super Bowl hangovers in recent memory, the Rams were widely expected to be in rebuilding mode in 2023. The 3-6 start the Rams endured seemed to indicate that they were indeed moving in that direction. The Rams caught fire down the stretch, however, finishing 7-1 and making the postseason with a 10-7 record.
The Rams faced Detroit on Wild Card Weekend, and went down but not before putting up a solid fight first.
Rams No Longer in Rebuild Mode?
With Jonah Jackson now in Los Angeles, the Rams, still very much fresh off of a Super Bowl Championship, can now look forward to returning to contention in 2024. Matthew Stafford experienced a bounce-back year in 2023, and in his return to Detroit, played the Lions close throughout their Wild Card contest.
To go along with this, the Rams possess their own first-round pick (#19 overall) for the first time since they drafted former #1 pick Jared Goff in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Rams will still likely want to reach for further offensive line help with that selection, or the remainder of their treasure trove, eleven draft picks in all, in next month’s draft.
