Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been in the news for the last few months, and a lot of it has to do with him supposedly buying 176 acres of land in Brook Park, a nearby Cleveland suburb.
Cleveland Browns Owner Has The Option To Buy The Land

The Haslams would most likely build a new stadium that includes a dome on the land in Brook Park, but as of right now, the Haslams have not purchased the land, but they have an option, according to Tim Bielik, from cleveland.com
It seems, as of right now, it is not a done deal that Haslam will buy the land and build a stadium on it like many thought before, but the city of Brook Park came out with a proposal to the Haslams to build the new stadium there and in an article published by Tim Bielik from Cleveland.com on Tuesday titled City of Brook Park passes a resolution about the Browns stadium project stated “Brook Park has passed a resolution to “strongly” encourage the Browns to leave downtown Cleveland and build a new domed stadium in the spot of the old Ford plant near Interstate 71.”
Here are some of the plans Bielik stated in his article that the city has for the Cleveland Browns
Among the things the resolution cites is that the land is very accessible because of its proximity to the split between I-71 and I-480 as well as access to the RTA’s Red Line.
Brook Park said in the resolution that it is ready to work with Haslam Sports Group to not only build a new domed stadium on the site, but also a mixed-use development area around the stadium.
The city council also encouraged the Haslams to come to a meeting to discuss proposals and a possible collaboration.
Cleveland Would Lose The Browns

Even though the Browns would only be moving a few miles away, if they do head to Brook Park, they would be leaving downtown Cleveland, which has brought some issues.
Leaving the city would mean less business for local companies that rely on the 70,000 fans who come to eight or nine Cleveland Browns games annually.
Local businesses rely heavily on Cleveland sporting events to stay open, and the Browns draw the biggest crowds even though they have fewer games than the Cleveland Guardians and Cavs. They are a major part of the city economy, and if they are no longer playing in the city, businesses could lose a ton of money.

The Cleveland Brown’s current stadium lease is up in 2028, so the team won’t be moving out of the city for a few more seasons if they end up moving, but 2029 could be the first time we get to see the Brook Park Browns.

Should we build a new stadium? Yes, you don’t really realize how bad your stadium is until you go out of town to see the Browns play. That’s when it really hurts wider seats, wider concourse, bigger restrooms and great views of the field. The problem with our stadium was that it being city owned was built by the city meaning the lowest bidder got the contract. I am not sure if you remember the Kenny Cheney concert that had people working through 6 inches of sewage water. Well I was there and it was a terrible experience.
