The Cleveland Browns are one of the most historic teams in the NFL. Star player after star player walked through their organization back in the day, going back to the 1950s and 60s, and even had the best player ever to play the game, running back Jim Brown. Still, since the team came back in 1999, they have failed to see many great players walk through their door, but one of the players who put his team on his back in the mid-2000s will be honored this year by the team.

The Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that former kicker Phil Dawson will join the class of Cleveland Browns legends this season and will be honored at their Week Three game against the New York Giants.
Dawson joined the Browns as a rookie in 1999 and played for 14 seasons before leaving for San Francisco in 2013.
His teammates also loved him, and he was even voted as the team captain for many seasons by the team.

Dawson was able to give Browns fans hope when there wasn’t a lot of it to be had when the team was so bad in the mid-2000s. The Pro Bowl kicker kept Cleveland in many games, and if it weren’t for him, there would probably be a few seasons where they would’ve only won one to two games.
It’s too bad Dawson was never able to play for the Browns when the team had winning seasons, but every fan loves him, and being part of the Browns legend class is an amazing thing that will make many fans very emotional.
