The Chicago Bears have cut quarterback Nathan Peterman just hours before the Thursday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders. Peterman has been with Chicago since 2021 as the backup to starter Justin Fields and was just released by the team. This news comes from Dov Kleiman via Twitter:

Nathan Peterman Career
Nathan Peterman has unfortunately been the laughingstock of the NFL due to his horrific play. In his career, Peterman has amounted to 712 passing yards and only four touchdowns. But the reason he is hated so much is because he has 13 interceptions, not a good ratio with the minuscule four touchdowns.
With the Chicago Bears, he has 139 yards passing along with a touchdown and an interception. This is not the first time Peterman has been cut this season but has been released for the second time not even five weeks into the 2023 season.
Who is the New Backup for the Chicago Bears
The Bears will now have to resort to rookie Tyson Bagent if Justin Fields suddenly goes out with an injury, which can be detrimental to the team. The Bears have not yet won a game this season but will look to get their first win tonight against the Commanders on Prime Time.
Nathan Peterman has played for three teams in his career including the Buffalo Bills, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Chicago Bears. It will be interesting to see where the troubled quarterback will play next, likely as a backup once again.
