The Chicago Bears have made some big splashes in free agency. With the most amount of cap space and a big trade with the Panthers, the future of the Bears is looking up. At this point in free agency, teams are looking to fill out the fringes of the roster. The Chicago Bears have re-signed veteran quarterback, Nathan Peterman.

Chicago Bears Re-Sign Nathan Peterman
Peterman is often the butt of jokes for the NFL quarterback position. He famously started games for the Buffalo Bills and it could not have gone worse. This relegated him to the backup role which he spent with the Bears last season. While it would be easy to make jokes about this signing, Peterman does bring value to the team. He is a veteran presence that can help Justin Fields continue to make strides in his development. Some players are better fits in the backup role and Peterman is one of them.
Excitement In Chicago
The Bears have created some excitement around the team. Picking up DJ Moore instantly improved their receiving corp. Tremaine Edmunds was the marquee free agent signing but they also filled in some important holes at other places too. Couple that with the massive amount of picks, they got from Carolina, and you have a bright future. Ultimately, what the Bears do next season is all dependent on Fields. If he can make another jump like he did last year, the team might be in contention in the NFC North.
The Nathan Peterman signing for the Chicago Bears will not make any headlines but having consistency at the backup quarterback position isn’t a bad thing. As the draft approaches, it will be interesting to see how Ryan Poles continues to retool the roster to make it into a contender.
