The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers had obstacles from Mother Nature before this wild card game started. As a result, the game was postponed over 24 hours due to a travel ban in the Buffalo area. Despite waiting longer than planned to play this game, the Bills made it worthwhile for their fans.
Buffalo Bills Defeat Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17
At first, it looked like the Bills were going to run away with this. Buffalo got off to an early 21-0 lead in the first half while Pittsburgh had two costly turnovers. The Steelers managed to get a touchdown right before halftime to try to keep hope alive.
For one more quarter, Pittsburgh fought their way back into the game. They went on a 17-3 scoring run to get to within a touchdown. Unfortunately, for Steelers fans, that was the closest the Steelers came to winning this.
The Bills scored an insurance touchdown with 6:27 remaining thanks to a 17-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to Khalil Shakir. That proved to be enough, as the Bills went on to win by a final score of 31-17. Now, the Bills have won their last six games.
Buffalo Bills Moving Forward
Despite the weather delay, the Bills still have six days until their next playoff game. Fortunately, they will not have to travel for it. Buffalo will host the Kansas City Chiefs.
These two teams have had two playoff meetings in the three previous postseasons. Kansas City won both games. However, this one comes with a twist. It is the first playoff game Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will ever play on the road. Could there be a better spot for football fans to see him do it?
