The Baltimore Ravens will attempt to exorcise their playoff demons in 2024 after another unceremonious postseason exit last year. Baltimore will return superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson following his second MVP-winning campaign but will operate with a new backup signal after Tyler Huntley signed with the Cleveland Browns this offseason. However, Huntley’s time with the AFC North rivals was short-lived, with Cleveland releasing the passer on Thursday.
The Browns kept Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as backup quarterbacks to Deshaun Watson. Huntley could return via the practice squad but is open to signing elsewhere, including reuniting with the Ravens. Meanwhile, Baltimore fans shared their shock and disbelief that Huntley did not make Cleveland’s active roster.
Baltimore Ravens Fans Erupt After Tyler Huntley Gets Released By NFC North Rival
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic:
The Cleveland Browns, who had four quarterbacks on their roster, are now down to three. They are releasing Tyler Huntley, the former Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl quarterback, per source.
Huntley struggled in his first two preseason games before going 17-of-22 for 146 yards and three passing touchdowns in last weekend’s contest against the Seattle Seahawks. Before Cleveland, Huntley spent four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens as a backup quarterback. He went 3-6 as a spot starter, throwing for eight touchdowns against seven picks. He received Pro Bowl honors in 2022.
Huntley departed Baltimore this offseason, with the team selecting former Kentucky Wildcats passer Devin Leary in the sixth round of the subsequent NFL Draft. With Huntley’s release, the Utah product could return to Baltimore and backup two-time MVP Lamar Jackson alongside Leary and veteran journeyman Josh Johnson. The departure of Huntley has Ravens fans expressing their desire for his return, while some express their sadness over his release:

Eric DeCosta was asked if he's happy with his QB room.
The reporter noted that former Ravens QB Tyler Huntley was released by Browns this morning.
"Well, we have an MVP. So I think we're pretty happy there. …

Tyler Huntley is getting Tim Tebow treatment. Low key has done more than Deshawn Watson lately. 2nd highest rated player this preseason for Cleveland via PFFCle🏈

The #Browns are releasing former #Ravens’ Pro Bowl QB Tyler Huntley.
Should EDC look into a potential reunion? Baltimore's reserve quarterbacks performed poorly this preseason, as the offense failed to score more than 13 points in any game.
