The Baltimore Ravens are going into the 2024 season with possibly the biggest chip on their shoulder out of all 32 NFL Teams. Baltimore is coming off season in which they secured the number one seed in the AFC, only to lose in the AFC Championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs.
They will be in a “win now” mode for the foreseeable future, and that could mean bringing in a proven veteran for their defense.
The Baltimore Ravens Work Out Proven Starter For Their Defense
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:
Reunion? The Ravens are hosting veteran DL Lawrence Guy for a visit and workout today, source say. The long-time Patriots starter spent two seasons starting in Baltimore.
Some potential help with the season looming.
Historically, the Ravens have been strong against the run, but they allowed 4.5 yards per carry in 2023. In the trenches, this figure quantified a growing, but still underrated weakness.
As the NFL’s leading sack producer, a defense geared toward rushing the passer delivered on its promise. As a result, the Ravens played the run only on their way to get pressure on the quarterback.
Lawrence Guy played three seasons for Baltimore (2014-16).
Guy joined the Ravens midway through the 2014 season, recording 4.5 sacks in 2015 and 28 tackles in 2016 before signing a four-year, $20 million contract with the Patriots during free agency the following summer. Guy has 507 tackles and 17 sacks in 12 NFL seasons.
