The Baltimore Ravens finished with the top seed in the AFC this season and Josh Jacobs is a free agent. Jacobs is one of the top running backs on the market this free agency period.
Jacobs last season with the Las Vegas Raiders rushed for 805 yards on 233 carries and six touchdowns, along with averaging 3.5 yards per rush. He also caught 37 passes for 296 yards receiving and zero touchdowns and averaged 8.0 yards per carry.
Baltimore a season ago had Keaton Mitchell, Gus Edwards, and Melvin Gordon III as some of its running backs. They never had a top-tier running back in quite some time. The last one to really stand out was Ray Rice over a decade ago.
NFL Insider Jason La Confora Thinks the Baltimore Ravens Need to Sign Josh Jacobs
NFL insider Jason La Confora is from the Baltimore, Maryland area. He went onto the Auducy Podcast “In the Huddle” by saying:
“Josh Jacobs has never played with a great quarterback. He’s never played with a great offensive line. (But) he’s been incredibly productive. You’ve got these two tight ends who you should be better throwing the better out of heavy packages, especially if you have an every-down back. I don’t think they’ll do it but I think it’s the kind of thing they should consider.”
Just two years ago, Jacobs won the rushing title with the Raiders at 1,653 yards rushing. His top quarterback was Derek Carr and was dealing with different quarterbacks last season.
With the Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson would be his quarterback and it would be a nightmare trying to stop those two players in the running game. Jacobs would be rushing for 1,000 yards behind the Ravens offensive line next season easily behind this elite offense line.
The Raiders’ offensive line was in the middle of the pact over the last couple of seasons. Baltimore will be in the market for a top-tier running back this offseason because they need someone to complement two-time MVP Lamar Jackson well.
