Simple question. Do New England Patriots cornerbacks overperform? After J.C. Jackson was benched last night for the Chargers, it made me sit and wonder about all of the cornerbacks that have played under Bill Belichick. Some may wonder if it revives their career if it was their best chance to win at the time or if it was just pure luck. Well, today I am going to break down every top cornerback New England has had who eventually played somewhere else and compare. For the sake of the article, I will refer to each player as a boom or bust.…

Yesterday, we saw the Patriots offense absolutely dismantle the Cleveland Browns 38-15. From start to finish the Patriots had their fingerprints all over the game. With a game plan offensively that was split almost evenly 29/34 for run to pass ratio the ball was spread out amongst many different players.  Receivers New England had 4 receivers have at least sixty yards as well as 5 different players who caught four balls. DeVante Parker was one of the players who led the way with four catches and led the team in receiving yards with 64. Parker, who is the Patriots most…

With many question marks going on with the Patriots offense this week, Bill Belichick has his team focused on the task at hand. With the Patriots at 2-3 they will travel to Cleveland this weekend to face the 2-3 Browns in a game that can be monstrous for the victors helping the winner gain ground in their respective division. With many question marks facing the Patriots this week how will they fare against Cleveland. New England Offense With the question of Mac or Zappe this week in New England it is seeming more and more likely that rookie quarterback Bailey…

Mac Jones was fully suited up today at Patriots practice. Given that the usual return for a high ankle sprain is around 6 weeks give or take this is a promising sign. Although he was a limited participant today, he was taking first team snaps with now starter Bailey Zappe who has held the Patriots together since Jones went out.  Belichick Press Conference What this means for this weekend is that Jones could potentially suit up and even start if Belichick decides to go that route. Although Belichick was classically bland in his press conference following practice today he never…

As the Patriots prepare for their week six match up in Cleveland this Sunday, I thought it would be a good idea to review the Patriots season so far. With them being just about a third of the way through the year (31%) the Pats find themselves in the cellar of the AFC East at 2-3. With strong performances over the past four week after their week one loss to Miami the Patriots seem to be figuring out their strengths and weaknesses offensively.  Offensive Line Offensively the line play has been great so far. When drafting Cole Strange in the…

The New England Patriots dismantled the Detroit Lions yesterday 29-0 in a game that never felt close, even from the start. After forcing a punt on the first series, the Patriots would march down the field in six plays for a Nick Folk field goal. This was one of five field goals for Folk on the day. On the following series Jack Jones would have another interception, making it a back to back games with a pick. The Patriots would then have a fumble six when Kyle Dugger returned it 59 yards after a Matthew Judon sack. Defense Led The…

Being four weeks into the NFL season now, we can start to see some character flaws in most of the teams around the league. This Sunday, the Patriots face the Detroit Lions. The Lions’ character flaw, defense, as they rank dead last in almost every category in the league. Defense has been an issue facing the Lions all season. As the NFL’s highest scoring team one would think their 1-3 record would be more like 3-1 or 2-2 but their inability to stop their opponents from scoring has been their Achilles heel.  Defensively for New England Let’s start on the…

With an announcement earlier this summer that the Patriots would bring back the throwback red uniforms, the time is finally upon us. Yesterday, the team announced that they will in fact be wearing the uniforms this weekend against the Detroit Lions. The team held a contest for fans to vote earlier this summer for when the team would wear them. With the return of the old school Pat Patriot logo I thought it would be fun to go through the history of the red jerseys.  Team History When Wearing The Alternates Since the Patriots changed their primary jerseys to the…

After a hard fought game in Green Bay last week, the Patriots now head into a week of uncertainty at the quarterback position. With the most likely starter being Bailey Zappe for the week 5 showdown against the Detroit Lions, Hoyer and potentially even Mac Jones could play. Last Sunday In Green Day Zappe was as perfect as one could be at managing the game on Sunday. For never taking an NFL snap before Zappe was impressive after he got comfortable. He went 10-15 for 99 yards and a touchdown. He finished with a quarterback rating of 107 as well…

When it comes to head injuries the NFL is no stranger to them. With a sport so physical and violent such as football it is just the nature of the sport that head injuries should come about. Having a clear sign of head trauma for a player should be enough to keep them out. Being allowed to go back out and finish a game is a serious issue. An even more serious issue is when said player goes out just four days later and has another blow to his head and clearly is concussed again. This is the situation with…
