Colt’s training camp has been in session for a week and two rookies are turning heads early on. Chris Ballard has assembled a strong roster through the draft. Ballard drafted safety Nick Cross and wide receiver Alec Pierce during the 2022 NFL Draft. The Colts drafted Nick Cross to strengthen their secondary and continue to be one of the best defenses in the NFL. Cross joined a young secondary that includes Kenny Moore, Isaiah Rodgers, Brandon Facyson, and Stephon Gilmore. Alec Pierce was drafted to help the Colt’s offense produce more points. Head football coach Dan Lanning is focusing on growing with his new team. During Pac-12 media day on July 29, Lanning said, “The theme of the offseason has been the growth of the team.”  Growth will help the Ducks have a successful season and compete during the season.  Oregon hired  Lanning in December after  Mario Cristobal’s departed for Miami. College football is drastically changing with conference realignments. Last summer Texas and Oklahoma left the Big 12 to join the SEC. Now, the USC Trojans have elected to join the Big 10. USC will officially join the Big 12 on August 2, 2024.  USC football has had a rich history in the Pac-12. The Trojans have enjoyed conference championships, multiple rose bowl appearances, and close games within the Pac-12. Colts training camp is underway in Westfield, Indiana and the colt’s offense is wasting no time getting settled. The colts begin training camp with their fifth starting quarterback in as many seasons. Hawaii’s football program was once blessed with good quarterback play. Football season is right around the corner and the quarterback position has some question marks. Former Hawaii quarterback Chevan Cordeiro transferred to San Jose State after the 2021 season. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors begin training camp with some key positions to watch. Hawaii begins camp on July 27 and coach Timmy Chang said there are three positions for fans to watch. Running backs, wide receivers, and defensive backs will be under the spotlight as Hawaii prepares for the 2022 season. Chang spoke with Hawaii football reporters on ESPN Honolulu’s podcast. The Indianapolis Colts veterans report to training camp on July 26 and Darius Leonard will begin camp on the pup list. Leonard was placed on the list because he is still recovering from back surgery. The All-Pro linebacker had back surgery in June to fix an issue that was bothering him during the  2021 season. The Colts enter the 2022 season with new defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. The University of Oregon’s run game will look significantly different this season.  Oregon’s leading rusher Travis Dye joined Pac-12 rival USC during the offseason and CJ Verdell is with the Indianapolis Colts. Oregon went  10-4 in 2021.  A strong running game spearheaded the Duck’s offense. Oregon rushed for 202.4 yards per game and scored 36  rushing touchdowns. Travis Dye ran for 1,271 rushing yards and scored 16 rushing touchdowns on 211 carries.
