Lamar Jackson May be the Greatest Rushing Threat Yet This Season The Giants have managed to start off the season 4-1 by corralling some of the best running backs in the league but now face Lamar Jackson, the league’s most prolific rushing quarterback.  Doesn’t sound that threatening until you realize he is 8th in rushing among all positions and leads the NFL with 7.6 yards a carry. The Ravens bring the best passing attack and the most balanced offense of the Giant’s opponents thus far. Unlike Daniel Jones, Lamar has a 12th-ranked passing offense to complement the seventh-ranked rushing attack…

Week five brings the Giants to London to face the Packers in what will be another battle of run-first offenses.  That’s right, an Aaron Rogers-led team is 16th in passing yet with a 6th-ranked rushing attack comprised of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. The 1A, 1B duo have combined for 538 yards in the ground in 105 attempts. They have been targeted 30 times in the passing game for another 150 yards.  Jones is averaging 6.8 yards-per-carry and 3.4 yards after contact which is higher than Saquon Barkley’s 2.9 and Derrick Henry’s 2.0.  Both the powerful Dillon and allusive Jones…

After two games in 2022, the Dallas defense is third in sacks while Daniel Jones is the third most sacked quarterback. Dallas is in 6th in pass yards allowed while the Giants have the second least yards through the air. If we are to follow this recent trend, it is clear that the path to victory will be blazed by Saquon Barkley and the Dallas front seven knows it. Coordinator Dan Quinn who led Seattle’s defense to two back-to-back Super Bowls is in his second year in Dallas. He doesn’t have a Legion of Boom quite yet, but he does…

Monday night’s game at Met Life stadium will feature old-school jerseys to compliment an old-school offensive mentality as both teams try to keep their fate out of their quarterback’s hands.  There are four very crafty coordinators involved in this game so no fan or talking head can predict with any certainty how it will play out. Yet considering both teams’ current personnel and their statistics of the last two weeks,  we could be set for a black and blue smashmouth ball game that harkens to a time before the league manipulated the rules to promote higher scoring. The Giants bring…

The Dallas secondary has them with the 5th ranked passing defense after two games.  This comes after facing Tom Brady’s Buccaneers and Joe Burrow’s Bengals.  Though it is early in the season that still has to account for something. Especially so with Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs and veteran Anthony Brown keeping game-breaking receivers under control. Bottling Up the Competition Thus far they only have allowed a touchdown each with no opposing receiver surpassing 71 yards. Throwing away from those two won’t exactly be easy for nickel cornerback Jourdain Lewis is also doing a solid job keeping completions at 70%. …

Week three may bring a Cowboy passing attack that we don’t exactly recognize.  First and foremost, Cooper Rush is no Dak Prescott, but Daniel Jones is no Joe Burrow whom the Cowboys held to 199 yards and a single TD.  The Giants may need to shut down the Dallas passing back if theirs struggles. Quarterback Rush has been a Dallas backup since 2017 and has fared well in his scarce 94 attempts with a 60.6 completion rate and 94.4 ratings.  Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has had time to game plan around their new starting QB, and while the Giants defeated…

The Giants managed to regroup and come back against a tough Titan defense last week and will try to prove it was not an anomaly against a less talented Carolina team that visits this Sunday. Linebackers Last week Saquon Barkley carved up 2021’s second-ranked rushing defense while Carolina’s defense was shredded for 217 yards on the ground.  Shaq Thompson has been and will likely continue to be a tackling machine yet middle linebacker and seven-year veteran Damien Wilson is coming off of a distant career-high 106 tackles playing for a bad Jaguars team.  He could just as likely decline as…

The Panthers visit the Giants with an offense that is still feeling itself out. Baker Mayfield is still jelling with his receivers, but they could improve a lot from week one to week two, especially as they integrate Christian McCaffrey more into the offense. Wide Receivers 6′ 3” Robbie Anderson had a big game last week (5/102/1), and though the TD was made on blown coverage it still could be a sign that he could rebound from last year’s mediocre season with the new scheme and quarterback.  In 2020, he and D.J. Moore both had over 1,000 yards receiving with…

The Giant’s defensive line was solid against formidable Derrick Henry and the Titan’s run game. The offensive line on the other hand was a tale of two halves. Rookie Joshua Ezeudu and Ben Bredeson took turns struggling with top-tier lineman Jeffery Simmons for most of the game. Yet the line showed their ability to execute double teams and find a place to put their hat when they pulled. The young tackles showed good hand placement and the ability to take on their assignments one on one without disaster. Though rookie Evan Neil is still as expected working on his footwork,…

The Giants will have their home opener vs. the Carolina Panthers this Sunday, but it will be a different offense than the Christian McCaffery-centered scheme we are used to. Offensive Coordinator Ben McAdoo It is hard to judge anything accurately by statistics alone, and the curious case of Ben McAdoo is no different. Giants fans may remember their former head coach with disdain, but he did join the team when it truly began its decline in talent, especially along the offensive line and running back, which does not exactly invite a coach to run the ball 30 times a game. …
