For the last fifteen years, the Big 12 Conference has been the conference that gets picked apart. First, it was Colorado going to the Pac 12 , Nebraska leaving for the Big 10, and Texas A&M, and Missouri leaving for the SEC. Later, it was Texas and Oklahoma also leaving for the SEC. It wasn’t until 2021 when Big 12 pulled teams, first with UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston for the AAC and BYU, an Independent. This past summer, they picked off Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State from the Pac 12. Through all of this, there have been eight schools…

Dancing Pop-Tarts, dumping mayo on coaches, and Cheez-It NIL deals are just some of the headlines that are dominating bowl games this year. The mascots and events are certainly getting a lot of attention, but is it working? Is it making bowl games better? In almost every way…yes. https://twitter.com/SpurrFM/status/1740512566261031254 Long Term Bowl Game Solution or a Distraction? Everyone who has social media saw the Pop-Tart last night. Whether it was it catching a field goal kick, slapping a security guard’s behind, or dropping down into a toaster before being devoured, the internet went crazy with the mascot. What did people…

The Pac 12, ACC, SEC, and Big 10 have combined for a 8-6 record in the 2023-24 bowl season, while the Big 12 is sitting at 5-2, with one of their losses being Oklahoma losing to Arizona. Oklahoma is on their way out to the SEC and Arizona is on their way into the Big 12. The impressive record comes as the Big 12 continues to push to cement itself as the third-best conference in the nation behind the Big 10  and SEC. A single good bowl season won’t be enough to push the needle in any direction significantly, but…

Iowa State and Memphis will square off on Friday, December 29th, in the Liberty Bowl. The Liberty Bowl is home to the Memphis Tigers, making this game a de-facto home game for the Tigers. Iowa State was projected to finish 10th in the Big 12, which would have likely put them in the five-to-six-win range. Matt Campbell once again proved the doubters wrong. The Cyclones finished fourth with a 6-3 conference record and even had an outside shot of making the Big 12 Conference Championship game on the season’s final weekend if other games fell their way. Their season was highlighted…

Former Louisville 3-Star Linebacker Kameron Wilson will join the Cincinnati Bearkats next season in a move many following Wilson expected. Wilson played for Cincinnati Head Coach Scott Satterfield while he was coaching at Louisville. What did surprise everyone was how long Wilson took to announce his decision. Wilson had previously announced his on December 5th. https://twitter.com/Kameron00074791/status/1732160259110654226 Despite being in the portal, Wilson was reposting and supporting his former squad as late as Wednesday night when the Cardinals were taking on USC in the Direct TV Holiday Bowl. We are less than a week away from bowl game season being essentially over and entering the long off-season. This bowl season has flown by, especially since Christmas, and it’s crazy to think that there are only 36 teams left to play games. This bowl season has taught us a lot so far. In the end, college football is still college football, but as any avid fan knows, with the NIL, transfer portal, and other changes to the game, the game is drastically different than it was just a few years ago. Below are a few of those observations through…

Kansas State and North Carolina State will square off on Thursday, December 27th, in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in a game featuring two teams who had successful seasons but will be shorthanded. Kansas State came into the season as the reigning Big 12 Champ and had high aspirations of repeating that accomplishment in 2023. Unfortunately, a few one-score games didn’t go their way, and they ultimately ended up finishing in a three-way tie for fourth, but due to tiebreakers, finished sixth in the league at 6-3 and 8-4 overall. North Carolina State also started the season with high aspirations however got…

NCAA: We are officially halfway done with the bowl game season following last night’s Kansas vs UNLV offensive firework show in the Texas Bowl, which was the most-scored (and most penalized) game of the season. Being halfway done is, on one hand, sad because it means the end of college football is just around the corner, but on the other hand, it means some of the greatest football of the season is still ahead of us. In the past, bowl game record by conferences wasn’t really a talking point. There may be an occasional tweet or mention of it, but…

Oklahoma State and Texas A&M will square off on Wednesday December 26th in the TaxAct Texas Bowl in a game that features two teams who did exactly the opposite of where they started their season. For Texas A&M, they started the season 4-1 with wins over Auburn and Arkansas, before hosting Alabama in a game that many felt would propel the Aggies back into the Top 10 and save Jimbo Fisher’s job. However, the Aggies lost to the Crimson Tide and ultimately ended up losing four of their final six SEC games. Oklahoma State started the season 2-2 with a…

Oklahoma State star running back Ollie Gordon has just shocked the college football world. In a world of NIL and the transfer portal, great players who play for teams outside of the traditional true bluebloods tend to seek money and opportunity at a school where they can get paid more and be featured more on TV. But not every player. On Tuesday, Gordon decided to gift Oklahoma State a late Christmas gift by announcing that he would be returning to play for the Cowboys next season in a tweet that was themed off of the traditional “This is SportsCenter” commercial.…
