Mitchell played 12 games, starting 12 in his sophomore season, and had 34 tackles, two for a loss, one sack, eight pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Mitchell played 14 games, starting 14 in his junior season, and had 41 tackles, 3.5 for a loss, five interceptions, two pick-sixes, and 19 pass deflections. He earned first-team All-MAC and third-team All-American by the Associated Press.

Mitchell continued to impress at the combine, showing off his impressive measurements, and had a high RAS score and a high total score. He measured in at 6 feet and weighed 195 pounds. He ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, a 2.53 20-yard split, and a 1.51 10-yard split. He recorded a 38″ vertical jump and a 10’2″ broad jump. His RAS score was 9.75, and he earned a total score of 90, ranking him as the number one cornerback at the combine.

Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold are considered the top two cornerbacks in the draft, and many sites disagree about whose 1st and 2nd.
