During Monday’s legal tampering period, the Arizona Cardinals fill a much needed void at cornerback. The Cardinals have agreed to terms with veteran Sean Murphy-Bunting. This deal is reported to cost $25.5 Million ($17.4 Million guaranteed) over 3 years.
Arizona Cardinals Get Much Needed Help at Cornerback
It was no secret that the Arizona Cardinals needed to improve their cornerback room, and they wasted little time doing so. Not only did the Cardinals have one of the worst graded cornerback rooms, per PFF player grades, they also had one of the youngest. Murphy-Bunting will fill both those voids bringing in super bowl experience to the desert.
Sean Murphy-Bunting posted 2 interceptions and 8 passes defended last season for the Titans. The 27 year old had an impactful year for the Buccaneers in 2022 under former Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, posting a high quality coverage grade of 80.9, per PFF player grades. The Cardinals will look to get him Murphy-Bunting back to that level in 2024.
Expect the Cardinals to look to add another cornerback to line up opposite of Sean Murphy-Bunting this off season. Especially with the financial flexibility this deal gives Arizona.
