Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown fired back Tuesday at harsh recent comments from former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.
Brown has been seen on the sideline giving quarterback Jalen Hurts grief about situations on the game field. Head coach Nick Sirianni had to break up an argument between Hurts and Brown during their matchup with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.
McNabb was a guest on 94WIP Monday afternoon following the Eagles’ surprise loss to the New York Jets in Week 6. The Eagles put up just 14 points in their first loss of the season.
McNabb appeared to compare his situation with Terrell Owens to Hurts and Browns. He thinks Brown is getting in the way of the Eagles offense:
“It’s been so inconsistent each and every week and I go back to before the—I can’t say argument or maybe the complaint from A.J. Brown about not being more involved in the offense and getting the ball,” McNabb told Jon Marks and Ike Reese during his 4pm Monday calls on 94WIP.
“I go to that because I’ve seen it before, I understand it, I know as a quarterback you don’t want to be involved in it. But what I’m seeing is, I’m seeing offensive play calls are being more catered to try to feature instead of establishing a tempo and a consistency from running the football, play action game, quick game to be able to spread the ball around. DeVonta Smith, I don’t care what nobody say, he ain’t getting involved in this offense.
Philadelphia Eagles: A.J. Brown fires back at Donovan McNabb
Brown responded to McNabb’s comments on X. The star wide receiver denied the heated conversation in Week 2 was about targets and said McNabb should know better than to stir the pot:
“With all due respect I will repeat, that conversation was not about targets. Two friends bumped heads about something and moved on and If you feel that way, keep that to yourself because the media is going to hold on to everything you say. Out all of people you should know better.”

The Eagles’ offense was much better from Week 3 through Week 5 after Brown talked to Hurts. The Eagles’ offensive clunker against the Jets shouldn’t be anything for the Eagles to worry about because of how good New York’s defense has been recently.
McNabb’s comments feel aloof right now. But we’ll have to see how the Eagles rebound from their offensive adversity in Week 7.
