The Seattle Seahawks are set to hire a former NFL Europe star as their next defensive coordinator. The Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald as their head coach last week.
The Seattle Seahawks were interested in the Cowboys’ scheme
The Seahawks chose Macdonald over Dan Quinn, who had interviewed to be Pete Carroll’s replacement following the Dallas Cowboys season. Quinn took the Washington Commanders coaching job.
The Seahawks were interested in hiring a top defensive mind this year, and the Cowboys and Ravens were praised for their defenses this season.
The Seahawks are set to hire Durde as their DC
The Seahawks hired one piece of the Cowboys’ defensive brain trust from the 2023 season. According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Seahawks are set to hire Aden Durde as their defensive coordinator.

Durde is from Europe
Durde took an unusual path to the NFL. He was born in England and started his professional football career playing for the London Olympians. Durde played for the Carolina Panthers in 2005 and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.
Durde has been with Quinn since the 2018 season when he was hired as the Atlanta Falcons’ quality control analyst. He’s been with the Cowboys since the 2021 season as their defensive line coach.
The Seahawks’ defense will benefit from combining the strengths of the Ravens’ and Cowboys’ schemes from the 2023 season.
