Will Laiatu Latu be a defensive game-changer for the Indianapolis Colts?
Rewind back to this time one year ago, the Indianapolis Colts selected Florida quarterback, Anthony Richardson with the fifth overall pick. Richardson had a promising start to his rookie campaign after being named the day one starter in Indy. However, a season-ending injury halted Richardson’s progress as well as the Colts’ season as the club missed out on the playoffs.
Despite Richardson’s injury, the Colts battled until the end and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot, but it may have been a blessing in disguise as they ended up picking higher than they previously thought and were able to snag who many think is the most NFL ready defensive player in the entire 2024 NFL Draft in the form of UCLA EDGE rusher, Laiatu Latu.
Indianapolis Colts 2024 NFL Draft Selections
- Round 1, Pick 15: Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
- Round 2, Pick 52: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
- Round 3, Pick 79: Matt Goncalves, OT, Pittsburgh
- Round 4, Pick 117: Tanor Bortolini, C, Wisconsin
- Round 5, Pick 142: Anthony Gould, WR, Oregon State
- Round 5, Pick 151: Jaylon Carlies, S, Missouri
- Round 5, Pick 164: Jaylin Simpson, S, Auburn
- Round 6, Pick 201: Micah Abraham, CB, Marshall
- Round 7, Pick 234: Jonah Laulu, DT, Oklahoma
With the selection of Laiatu Latu, the Indianapolis Colts potentially solidified their defensive front, while still being able to acquire a potential top weapon for the aforementioned Anthony Richardson, as the club stopped the fall of Texas wideout, Adonai Mitchell.
