Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a moment where he thought his playing career would be done due to his Achilles tendon tear.
Aaron Rodgers, former Green Bay Packers quarterback, admitted on the “I Can Fly” podcast, that he thought his career was over once he tore his Achilles tendon in the first game of the season. He remembered thinking to himself, “..This is it. You don’t come back from this injury”.
It was just four snaps in when Rodgers’s unfortunate injury happened. Rodgers expressed his frustration as he reflected on the offseason, how his move to a new city with new teammates, really made him fall back in love with the game he’s loved since he was a child.
Rodgers decided to research other athletes who have had the same injury and the same surgery to repair the Achilles tendon.
When he saw that Kobe Bryant had the same surgery he was about to have, his anxiety over his career being over faded away.
When Rodgers was out of surgery and ready to begin the intense rehabilitation process, Rodgers stated that prayer, diet, and support from friends helped him through to keep going.
Rodgers told everyone that his ultimate goal was to return back to the field before the end of the season.
While doctors cleared Rodgers to participate in some football activities, Rodgers said it felt good but he chose not to make a comeback specifically because the Jets were out of the “postseason hunt” and he did not feel as though he was completely 100% healed from the Achilles tendon tear.
Everyone is wondering if and when Rodgers is set to return. According to New York Jets’ website news, Rodgers will be returning to the field in 2024.
