Before we begin this article and mention Dwayne Haskins, we want to take this time to continue to provide his family and friends the utmost love and condolences as Dwayne was tragically killed in a highway accident on April 9th of this year after being struck by a dump truck crossing a highway in South Florida. Dwayne Haskins was legally drunk and had taken drugs before he was fatally struck by a dump truck while walking on a Florida interstate. Drafted by the Washington Commanders (Redskins at the time ) Dwayne played 2 seasons for Washington and was released. Dwayne signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 continuing his NFL career and backing up Ben Roethlisberger during his farewell tour. He was viewed as a potential starter this upcoming season until his tragic accident and the Steelers signed Kenny Pickett who they view as their future of the franchise. We once again continue to remember Dwayne for his love for his family, friends, and teammates as the loss of life will always be a dark Experience. Rest east Dwayne
We mention Dwayne Haskins because he ties into our topic of New York City tea. And while it may be Aaron Judge right now. Judge is on the opposite side of Jones. Daniel Jones is a topic, however, an unfortunate topic. The Giants fans knew it was the year of their next quarterback. Unfortunately, the 2019 QB draft class wasn’t a household group of names. Jared Stidham and Gardner Minshew had a few worthy games with Jacksonville but will probably not have the slightest chance starting over Jalen Hurts pending a sudden injury. Outside of Kyler Murray (1st overall pick) and honestly the only quarterback with shine from the draft class, the Giants had a choice to get whoever they wanted. The Giants selected Daniel Jones, 6th overall when the fan base was clamoring and expecting Dwayne Haskins who god rest his soul is another QB who didn’t make much of an impact in the NFL. Eli Manning’s historic time with the Giants brought them to SUPERBOWL wins in 2 legendary games against the Patriots. It was more than iron man Eli Manning’s time, who Shocking never missed a game due to injury, a very rare feat in the NFL nowadays.
Jones had high praise from the Manning’s Eli and Peyton. Let’s give some credit Jones had an ok rookie season. 24 TDS and 12 interceptions, the team still had a 3-9 record in games he started. The sophomore season, 11 TDS to 10 interceptions and a 5-9 record. Last season Daniel Jones had 10 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. Help around him or not year number 3 was progressively worse than his sophomore season. His career record with the Giants is 12-25 and at no point in time has he ever held a QBR rating over 60%. One of my biggest gripes and yes it’s not a good idea to include me, or I in an article but of them is when a fanbase member complains and gives every excuse why a team is under-performing. In a perfect world, every team would have an amazing foundation for a young quarterback to come into but guess what the world isn’t perfect deal with it.
Never a coach who could elevate his team partially because some of them left their office at the end of the year and weren’t allowed back. There’s always a positive in every negative, Props to Mr. Jones though. He’s shown stunning athleticism in his young career. But the team doesn’t and hasn’t won. The team has won 12 games in 3 seasons with Jones. The highlights of the team since Jones’s arrival was a 6 game-winning streak behind the lethal defense and even then the team didn’t make the Playoffs. Constant fumble issues, legendary viewed running back Saquon Barkley had a stellar rookie season and followed with another one. He tore his Acl in week 3 of the 2020 season and while on the field hasn’t had any impact since. All good things to the Giants don’t happen or there short-lived.
In the event of injury or whatever the Giants deem reasonable backing up Jones is Tyrod Taylor who at best is viewed at this point as a bridge or lifelong Nfl backup. And backing him up Davis Webb. A new coach, a good draft what could go wrong, one thing is for certain an underwhelming or poorly performed season should sound the alarm and Daniel Jones will be dismissed from the Big Blue. Or the team could spend the next 3-4 years forcing him into the franchise as if 4 seasons weren’t enough for evaluation. While every team’s goal should be to win a Super Bowl you also have to be a realistic fan, The Giants finishing 9-7 and relevant in December would be a Giant step for them (no pun intended)
If there’s one thing we do know it’s that the hourglass is still ticking on Daniel Jones’s Giant’s career, and to be honest with you the Sand has almost hit the bottom.
