If you haven’t not check out part 1 to my mock draft, click here. We are almost a month from the 2024 NFL draft. It’s starting to become clearer on what prospects teams will be drafting. So here is part two of my mock draft 1.0.
2024 NFL Draft Picks 11-21
#11: T Olumuyiwa Fashanu – New England Patriots (Trade with Minnestoa Vikings)
The Patriots decided to trade back with the Vikings to gain more draft capitol. They decided to pass on quarterback to get a tackle. Fashanu is a great young pass blocking offensive tackle that should be a cornerstone for New England for the future.
#12: EDGE Jared Verse – Chicago Bears (Trade with Denver Broncos)
After trading back, a couple spots with the Denver Broncos, the Bears are able to land the player they might have drafted at number nine. Jared Verse is a great defensive end that should be able to get to the quarterback, plying opposite of Montez Sweat.
#13: T Taliese Fuaga – Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have been building a great defense in free agency and could opt to go corner at number thirteen. Instead, they go offensive tackle to try to boost their run game. Fuaga is a mauler in the run game and worst-case scenario he could slide into guard.
#14: T JC Latham – New Orleans Saints
With tackles flying off the board the Saints jump on the train and add one themselves. The Trevor Penning experiment has not worked out and the Saints decide to move on. Latham is an anchor on the right side of the line that should be able to protect the Saints quarterback for the next ten plus years.
#15: CB Quinyon Mitchell – Indianapolis Colts
Luckily for the Colts, on of their biggest needs falls right into their lap. With the run on tackles the top corners fall to the Colts. Indianapolis gets their pick of the top corners in the draft and go with the high-flying athlete out of toledo.
#16: CB Terrion Arnold – Jacksonville Jaguars (Trade with Seatle Seahawks)
Just as Mitchell goes off the board, the Jaguars get on the phone to move up on spot to guarantee that they get one of the top corners. Arnold might not be the fastest or biggest corner in the draft, but he might have the best coverage. He can play all over the field and should be great opposite of Tyson Campell.
#17: T/G Troy Fautanu – Seatle Seahawks (Trade with Jacksonville Jaguars)
The Seahawks trade back one spot to gain more picks, but then draft the player they would have at 16. Fautanu could great tackle in the NFL, but the Seahawks draft him to play guard. In case of injury Fautanu could play any position on the line and solidifies the Seatle O-line.
#18: WR Brian Thomas Jr – Cincinatti Bengals
With the loss of Tyler Boyd, the Bengals now have a need at receiver. Along with the looming trade of Tee Higgins, Cincinatti goes receiver at number 20 in the draft. Thomas is a big body fast receiver that could replace Higgins in the Bengals offense. Plus, they add another LSU wide receiver.
#19: DT Byron Murphy – Los Angels Rams
After losing Aaron Donald in retirement, the interior defensive line for the Rams now has a gap. With more needs in the secondary and offensive line, the Rams decide to grab the falling DT. Out of Texas, Murphy can stop the run along with getting to the quarterback and keeps the Rams as one of the best defensive lines.
#20: C Jackson Powers-Johnson – Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have had a loud free agency, where they have added key pieces to the offense and defense. One position the Steelers have not filled was center. Powers-Johnson is regarded as the top center in the class and would slot right into the starting O-line for Pittsburgh.
#21: OT Amarius Mims – Miami Dolphins
With needs all over the offensive line, the Dolphins try to fill one here at 21. With Terron Armstead struggling to stay healthy, Miami takes a tackle to sit and become a future star. Mims seems like a risky pick, with injury history along with small starter experience, but he fits the athletic freak role of the Dolphins offense.
