There is now five weeks until the 2024 NFL draft. With free agency starting last week, the mock draft beards have been going crazy with players flying all over the board. Here we will see what the top 10 could look like in five weeks.
Top 10 Mock Draft
#1: QB Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears
Chicago selects Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The Bears have never had a 4,000-yard passer in their franchise’s history, and hope Caleb will be the first. With Justin Feilds being traded last weekend, it seems like a lock that the bears will be going QB at number one, and Williams seems to be the consensus top QB on the board.
#2: QB Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders
With the trade of 2023 starting quarterback Sam Howell, the Commanders need a quarterback. Like I discussed in one of my previous articles I believe trading Howell was a bad Idea. The Commanders will have their pick of Daniels or Maye at number two. Washington brought in Kliff Kingsbury to be their OC, which makes me think they will go with more of a scrambler QB in Daniels.
#3: QB Drake Maye – Minesota Vikings (trade with NE Patriots)
After an odd trade last week to acquire the 23rd overall pick from the Houston Texans, it seems like the Vikings want to move up in the draft. Pick at 11, its improbable the Vikings will be able to get one of the top three QBs in the draft. Here they package both their first-round picks to trade up with the Patriots to number three overall. They select Drake Maye, to sit behind Sam Darnold and be their franchise QB.
#4: WR Marvin Harrison Jr – Arizona Cardinals
This situation works out perfectly for the Cardinals. With all the QB needy teams picking in front of them, potential the best player in the class falls to them. Arizona has a huge need at receiver after the departure of Hollywood Brown. Marvin Harrison Jr is a generational WR prospect, and the Cardinals get their Justin Jefferson for years to come.
#5: WR Malik Nabers – Los Angels Chargers
I wouldn’t give Nabers the generational talent tag, but if it weren’t for Marvin Harrison Jr, Nabers would easily be the first receiver in almost any other class. After losing Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, the Chargers are left with Quinton Johnston and Joshua Palmer. Adding Nabers would give Herbert a huge weapon in Jim Harbaughs first season as head coach.
#6: WR Rome Odunze – New York Giants
With lots of questions surrounding the Giants offense, the New York front office decides to pass on quarterback in hope to continue with Daniel Jones. Here the Giants get Daniel Jones a new number one weapon in Rome Odunze. Odunze was great in 2023 and is a bigger body receiver that the Giants are lacking.
#7: OT Joe Alt – Tennessee Titans
Fortunately for the Titans their most needed position falls right into their lap. After drafting Peter Skoronski last year to play left guard, the Titans add their next franchise tackle. Joe Alt seems to be the consensus number one tackle in the class and is a massive human. At almost 6’9, Alt had a great career at Notre Dame and hope to be an anchor on the offensive line for Tennessee.
#8: EDGE Dallas Turner – Atlanta Falcons
After signing Kirk Cousins in free agency, quarterback is no longer a need for Atlanta in the draft. Instead, they decide to get a new pass rusher in Dallas Turner. Turner is a speedy pass rusher, that looks to outrun offensive tackles to get to the quarterback. The Falcons lack a top tier edge defender and hope to fill the hole with Turner.
#9: QB JJ McCarthy – Denver Broncos (trade with Chicago Bears)
With the top receivers off the board along with Dallas Turner the Bears opt to trade back a few spots. Denver then moves up a couple spots to get their new quarterback. With little draft capitol it seems unlikely the broncos would be able to trade up for the top QBs in the draft. Denver hopes to move to a run heavier offense to ease McCarthy into the NFL.
#10: TE Brock Bowers – New York Jets
After signing two tackles in free agency, it doesn’t seem like the Jets will target tackle at number 10. Along with top receivers off the board, the Jets try to get the next best option in Brock Bowers. Bowers dominated during his career at Georgia and hope to be a game wrecker in the NFL. Needing another weapon, New York get Rodgers his Travis Kelce in Brock Bowers.
