The 2022 NFL season might be Kyler Murray’s last chance to figure it out with the Arizona Cardinals. As Murray enters his fourth year in the NFL, it’s time for the dual-threat quarterback to make the jump and lead the Cardinals to their first playoff win since the 2015 season.
With Murray under the helm at QB, the Cardinals are 22-23-1, making the playoffs only once. In that span, Murray has thrown for 70 passing touchdowns and ran for 20.
Murray’s time in Arizona has been filled with both highlight plays and plenty of learning experiences for the 24-year-old. As a dual-threat option, Murray is one of the most exciting young players in the NFL. Yet inconsistency and a less than stellar playoff performance loom over State Farm Stadium.

In their Wild-Card loss to the Los Angeles Rams last season, Murray looked lost. After throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns in the 34-11 loss to the eventual Super Bowl champions, many Cardinal fans were disappointed in his performance. To make matters worse, it was reported that Kyler Murray refused to come back in during the fourth quarter for the final possession.

Following this report, many questioned the young quarterback’s leadership. However, it’s time for Murray to adopt a “next play” mentality. Surrounded by weapons like Deandre Hopkins, and most recently Hollywood Brown, Murray has the tools needed to succeed. Kliff Kingsbury’s air raid offense is perhaps the perfect system for Murray, giving him the opportunity to run or pass.
Murray is under contract until 2023 after Arizona decided to pick up his fifth-year option. Reports say Murray and the Cardinals are expected to forge a new deal before the season starts.
The Bottom Line
Winning a playoff game this year is almost a must for Kyler Murray. Anything less will continue to place doubt in the minds of Cardinal fans of whether or not Murray is the solution at quarterback.
