What is Fantasy Football season for if you can’t release a bold prediction or a hot take? Today, we look at our five hot takes at the tight end position for 2022.
Kyle Pitts finishes the 2022 season as the TE1
No one is questioning the talent of Kyle Pitts. Pitts is a true unicorn at the TE position. We know the second-year leap is real. You might as well consider Kyle Pitts a wide receiver the way the Falcons utilize him in the offense. Many in the fantasy community believe he will eventually top the TE position, so why not in 2022? The future is now in Atlanta as Kyle Pitts becomes the TE1 in 2022.
Dalton Schultz finishes the 2022 season as a top-three TE.

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the highest pass rates, combined with one of the fastest paces of play in the NFL. This combination is a recipe for fantasy success for the Dallas skill position players. With Amari Cooper out of town and Michael Gallup recovering, Dalton Schultz becomes a mainstay in the Dallas offense and makes the jump into the top three at the TE position.
Darren Waller AND George Kittle finish outside the top five TE.
Darren Waller and George Kittle have been mainstays in the top five at the TE position for quite some time. Suggesting that neither withholds this standing in 2022 is the definition of bold. Davante Adams is in town now, and you have to imagine he will take up a ton of the targets from Derek Carr. With Hunter Renfrow still around, Darren Waller may have his target share sliced. In the WR Hot Take article, we mentioned that we anticipate the 49ers to be one of the most run-heavy teams in the league. George Kittle is one of, if not the best run-blocking TE in football. While this is great for the 49ers, it hurts fantasy managers starting George Kittle on their team. With Kyle Shanahan game-managing a young QB in Trey Lance, George Kittle’s fantasy production could suffer.
Dallas Goedert finishes outside the top ten at TE.

Dallas Goedert is a talented tight end. Unfortunately, Jalen Hurts is the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. If you have followed Hurts’ tendencies, he is reluctant to throw the ball down the middle of the field. With AJ Brown now the alpha in the passing game, and an emerging star in DeVonta Smith on the other side, there are only so many passes to go around.
Gerald Everett develops immediate chemistry with Justin Herbert and becomes a top ten TE.
We have been waiting for the Gerald Everett breakout season for a while now. Every year we get excited, only to see the season fall short of expectations. Now in Los Angeles, he will catch passes from an emerging superstar in Justin Herbert. Herbert is the tide that raises all boats. Gerald Everett has his career year and finally emerges as a legitimate TE1.
