The Carolina Panthers revealed a poor update Thursday on the state of their wide receiver corps ahead of rookie quarterback Bryce Young’s regular season debut against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Panthers have four wide receivers battling injuries this week. One took a step back in practice Thursday.

Ihmir Smith-Marsette has been a full participant this week with an ankle injury. Terrace Marshall Jr. has been limited with a back injury.  According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Starters Adam Thielen (ankle) and DJ Chark (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday.

For the #Panthers, two starting WRs DJ Chark (hamstring) and Adam Thielen (ankle) did not participate in practice today.

The update on Chark and Thielen doesn’t look good for their status on Sunday. The really disappointing news here Thursday is the practice status of Thielen. He was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.

Young could have to play his first NFL game with his WR1 being rookie Jonathan Mingo. Friday’s injury report will be one to keep an eye on for the Panthers.
