The Philadelphia Eagles clearly had a culture change in their locker room a little more than halfway through the season that caused a divide amongst the team and was ultimately the reason they were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
The Eagles have already made significant moves on both sides of the ball, hiring Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator and VIc Fangio as their defensive coordinator.
When it comes to players, Philly has added Saquon Barkley, CJ Gardner Johnson, Bryce Huff, Davante Parker and several other pieces to make it clear the Eagles are attempting to capitalize on the talented team they have built and make a run toward the Super Bowl in 2024.
It feels like the drama and disconnect that plagued the Philadelphia Eagles in the second half of last season have been fixed.
Certainly it’s believable that players weren’t meshing with the vision from the last two coordinators and that could have caused the strife, but it’s gotten to the point were there are legitimate trade rumors surrounding AJ Brown, who is arguably one of the top wide receivers in the NFL .
In his two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown has been named to the Pro Bowl twice, finishing with 88 receptions for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022, and 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
With Brown and DeVonta Smith — who just reached a contract extension with the team — leading the way as the team’s top two wideouts, the Philadelphia Eagles reached the Super Bowl last season, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The trade scuttlebutt seemed to start when Brown scrubbed his Instagram ahead of the Eagles’ NFC Wild Card Round playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown did not play in the game due to a knee injury, and the Eagles fell 32-9.
When asked if Brown’s actions on Instagram indicated that he was unhappy with his situation with the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown said: “That had nothing to do with football. That’s me just trying to grow as a person. Just trying to block out any negativity that I can.”
AJ Brown Hints He May Get Traded From Philadelphia Eagles To New England Patriots
AJ Brown has responded to the speculation his social media changes prompted on Thursday, taking to X to explain that he was simply showing some respect to his favorite player after watching ‘The Dynasty’.
“TB12 is my favorite player ever,” he wrote. “I watch the dynasty and it brought back some memories from my childhood. Go look up what he did in 2015 when he was doubted/ disrespected.
“Yeah I see the disrespect. Motivated … yes. That’s it. I Did not think changing my pfp to the greatest qb ever would cause controversy.”
As of now, Brown is brushing aside a potential move from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Patriots, but his actions on social media certainly have fans concerned.
