Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are one of the most talked about teams in the NFL as the 2024 season continues to draw closer. On one side, many believe that they should be viewed as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Others believe that they are going to fall short of the hype once again.
Most of their success will depend on how Rodgers bounces back from his torn Achilles that he suffered last season. At 40 years old, there are legitimate concerns about how his body will respond from the injury.
Despite the questions about Rodgers’ healthy, the Jets and Joe Douglas went out and made sure they added more weapons for their superstar quarterback. Mike Williams was signed in NFL free agency and Malachi Corley was drafted. Both players project to have roles in 2024.
With that in mind, the New York Jets could still consider pursuing a wide receiver before the season.
New York Jets Trade For AFC Star Wide Receiver In Blockbuster Proposal
Bleacher Report has suggested a major trade for the Jets at the wide receiver position before the 2024 season. They have New York pulling off a deal with the Denver Broncos for star wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
Here is what they are suggesting the trade would look like between the Jets and Broncos.
New York Jets Receive: Courtland Sutton
Denver Broncos Receive: 2025 Second-Round Pick, 2025 Third-Round Pick
Sutton has been going through a contract situation with the Broncos that doesn’t appear to have an end in sight. That could force Denver to make a move if the right one presents itself.
For the New York Jets, this trade would be a no-brainer. Giving up a second and third-round pick wouldn’t be easy, but Sutton would give them another No. 1 talent. A trio of Garrett Wilson, Sutton, and Williams would be very tough for opposing defenses to stop, especially with Rodgers throwing them the ball.
On the other side of the trade, the Broncos wouldn’t be able to pass on this value. They already traded Jerry Jeudy this offseason and are in the middle of a rebuild. Moving on from Sutton and adding a second-round and third-round pick would be a big win for the future goals.
During the 2023 season with the Broncos, Sutton ended up catching 59 passes for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those numbers show why the New York Jets should have interest in him.
Granted, this is all hypothetical and there have been no legitimate rumors connecting the Jets and Sutton. However, if he is made available on the trade market, New York should absolutely show interest.
If they truly want to give Rodgers all the weapons he can take, trading for Sutton would form a nearly unstoppable offensive unit.
