We never did see what was set to be one of the most impressive, perhaps even borderline miraculous in-season injury comebacks, when the Zach Wilson-lead New York Jets failed to put themselves in a position to sneak into the playoffs late into the season as star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers had seemingly managed to get himself into playing condition in an unprecedented sole 3.5 months from his September 11th Achilles tear.
Aaron Rodgers Almost Pulled Off The Impossible
However, even if Aaron Rodgers had made it onto the field to rescue the Jets’ otherwise yet-again disappointing season; a championship level defense anchored to the bottom of the league with continually struggling offense, he would not have done so at anywhere near full strength.
In fact, perhaps the Jets’ arguably league-worst QB play was a blessing in disguise, patiently allowing New York to garner yet another top 10 selection in the NFL Draft, spent on Penn State stud tackle, Olu Fashanu.
Rodgers, now with a bolstered offensive line; with Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses added in free agency alongside big bodied veteran, Mike Williams, can fully recover from a serious injury that traditionally requires a 6-9 months minimum recovery period.
This provides the Jets with a fresh start entering the offseason training program and a real shot at making the playoffs for the first time since their Mark Sanchez -lead 2010 AFC Championship loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which, ironically, Aaron Rodgers beat that subsequent year to clinch Super Bowl XLV.
And, having spoken to the press concerning the team’s upcoming optional training activities (OTAs), head coach, Robert Saleh, feels very good about his star QB’s recovery status, per Adam Schefter.
Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers will have “no restrictions” when the Jets begin their OTA practices May 20, according to head coach Robert Saleh.

New York Jets Aiming To End 14 Year Playoff Draught
Although they do play in one of the most competitive divisions in all of football, the AFC East, the New York Jets are in unfamiliar territory heading into 2024.
They have their quarterback; for the moment, at least; they finally seem to have an offensive line that blends talented youth with proven veteran experience and know-how, a receiving corps that looks very much palatable, and a defense that will be hoping to have another top 5 year – especially having traded for Philadelphia Eagles’ stud pass rasher, Haason Reddick, in the latter stages of free agency.
The Jets have more than enough talent to seriously compete for the AFC East title with a weakened Buffalo Bills. a notoriously style-over-substance Miami Dolphins and the rebuilding New England Patriots the only teams in their way.
In fact, I would not be surprised that, if things go well, we could be touting New York as surprise Super Bowl contenders come the end of the regular season. But again – if things go well, which, sadly, they have historically for the green and white. Let’s see if this season can finally break the Jets’ curse!
