The New York Giants added a potentially elite burner on the perimeter by selecting LSU’s Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft but could take a big swing at adding one of the league’s premier talents at the position.
Despite uncertainty at quarterback, given Daniel Jones’ comeback bid from a torn ACL and his middling play for much of the 2023 season, general manager Joe Schoen and the Giants have built a receiving corps capable of stretching the field for whoever winds up behind enter in New York.
Nabers, Jaylin Hyatt, and Wan’Dale Robinson all have big-play potential but lack experience and the track record of being consistently among the most prolific receivers in the league.
That’s where Schoen has the opportunity to add a major piece to the Giants’ vertical passing game. There isn’t a bigger name receiver, or a more prolific one, available than Bengals star Tee Higgins.
Could New York Giants Trade for Bengals star WR Tee Higgins?
Tee Higgins’ name has come up in rampant trade speculation throughout the offseason, and has formally requested a trade after contract talks stalled with the Bengals once the team applied the franchise tag on him for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
Bleacher Report’s Rico Gathers suggests the Giants are an ideal fit for Higgins, and puts together the following trade proposal:
Cincinnati Trades: Tee Higgins
Giants Trade: 2025 Fourth-Round Pick (Back to Bengals)
This type of trade would be an unequivocal steal for the Giants, especially if New York is able to agree to terms with Higgins on a long-term contract.
Higgins, 25, has caught 257 passes for 3,684 yards with 24 touchdowns, while averaging an explosive 14.3 yards per reception.
The price seems a bit light for Cincinnati unless the franchise believes the Giants’ pick would be better than any compensatory pick Cincinnati might receive should Higgins walk as a free agent at season’s end.
Opposite Nabers, Higgins would essentially be replicating the dynamic duo he’s currently part of in Cincinnati opposite Ja’Marr Chase, but would set up a soft landing for any quarterback Schoen and the Giants would select in 2025.
