With the New York Giants finishing last season with a 6-11 record, they failed to qualify for the playoffs after making it the previous season with a 9-7-1 record. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are looking to get back to the playoffs this season.
The NFC East feels wide open this season after the Philadelphia Eagles collapsed down the stretch and the Dallas Cowboys choked once again in the playoffs. The Washington Commanders were in last place last season in the NFC East and Washington will be rebuilding.

New York will have a more favorable schedule this season than they did last season. The New York Giants hope to be better on both sides of the ball this season.

Pro Football Focus writer Dalton Wasserman mentioned a reason to be optimistic for each NFL team entering the 2024 season. Even with the New York Giants missing the playoffs quite often recently, he wrote:
“The offensive supporting cast should be much improved
Running back Saquon Barkley departed in free agency, but the Giants managed to add several offensive pieces that should make them more well-rounded. They signed two starting-caliber offensive linemen, Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor, to a unit that was the league’s lowest-graded last season. That alone should give the offense more functionality than it had last year.
They also spent significant draft capital on offensive weaponry. The headliner is first-round pick Malik Nabers, who led the nation in receiving grade at LSU last season. He’s New York’s most explosive playmaker since Odell Beckham Jr. They also drafted tight end Theo Johnson and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., both of whom should compete for playing time early despite being Day 3 picks.”
It should not be any worse than what it was a season ago. Some will question the New York Giants not re-signing running back Saquon Barkley this offseason. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.

They will go with a running back by-committee system this season. As for the wide receivers, the projected starters will be Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson. The two biggest questions about the offense will be quarterback Daniel Jones and the offensive line. If they are any better than what they were a season ago, the New York Giants could compete for a wild card spot in the NFC.
